Second Low Pressure Area Forms; Rain Likely to Return to Kerala Soon

The second Low Pressure Area of the Southwest Monsoon season has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal, off the north Odisha–West Bengal coast. According to weather agencies, the system is expected to move towards north Odisha and the Gangetic West Bengal region over the next two days.

Rainfall activity likely to increase

Under the influence of this system, rainfall is expected to intensify across Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Bihar. Some areas may also experience thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds. As the low-pressure area moves inland, rainfall activity is likely to expand across several parts of central and eastern India.

Only isolated showers over Kerala for now

Kerala is not expected to receive widespread rainfall at present. Light to moderate isolated showers are likely, mainly during the afternoon and evening, triggered by locally developed convective clouds. Most parts of the state are expected to witness relatively weak rainfall activity over the next few days.

Weather may improve after July 18

As moist westerly winds from the Arabian Sea strengthen and wind patterns become more favourable, the chances of rainfall are expected to increase over northern Kerala after July 18. Current weather models indicate isolated showers are likely over Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, and Malappuram districts.

Monsoon remains in a weak phase

The Southwest Monsoon is currently in a relatively weak phase over Kerala, with atmospheric conditions not yet favourable for widespread rainfall. Therefore, only isolated showers are expected over the next two to three days. The future rainfall pattern over Kerala will largely depend on the movement of the low-pressure system and changes in wind circulation.

കനത്ത മഴയെ തുടർന്നുണ്ടായ മിന്നൽ പ്രളയത്തിലും ഉരുൾപൊട്ടലിലും അരുണാചൽ പ്രദേശിൽ വ്യാപക നാശനഷ്ടം. ദിബാങ് മാലി മേഖലയിലെ പാസുപാനി ആർമി ക്യാമ്പ് (Pasupani Army Camp) മിന്നൽ പ്രളയത്തിൽ പൂർണമായും ഒഴുകിപ്പോയതായാണ് വിവരം. അപകടത്തിൽ അഞ്ച് സൈനികരെ കാണാതായി.

മിന്നൽ പ്രളയത്തിൽ ക്യാമ്പിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന ഏഴ് സൈനികർ (Army Personnel) ശക്തമായ വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ ഒഴുക്കിൽപ്പെടുകയായിരുന്നു. ഇതിൽ രണ്ടുപേരെ രക്ഷപ്പെടുത്താൻ സാധിച്ചു. അഞ്ച് സൈനികർക്കായി രക്ഷാപ്രവർത്തകർ തിരച്ചിൽ തുടരുകയാണ്.കനത്ത മഴയെ തുടർന്ന് പെട്ടെന്ന് ജലനിരപ്പ് ഉയർന്നതാണ് അപകടത്തിന് കാരണമെന്നാണ് പ്രാഥമിക നിഗമനം. ക്യാമ്പിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന വാഹനങ്ങളും മറ്റ് ഉപകരണങ്ങളും വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ ശക്തമായ ഒഴുക്കിൽപ്പെട്ടതായും റിപ്പോർട്ടുകളുണ്ട്.

കാണാതായ സൈനികർക്കായുള്ള തിരച്ചിൽ-രക്ഷാപ്രവർത്തനം (Search and Rescue Operation) ഊർജിതമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ദുരന്തനിവാരണ സേനയും സുരക്ഷാ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരും പ്രദേശത്ത് രക്ഷാപ്രവർത്തനം തുടരുകയാണ്.

ഉരുൾപൊട്ടലിലും തൊഴിലാളികളെ കാണാതായി

അരുണാചൽ പ്രദേശിൽ വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച വൈകുന്നേരം മറ്റൊരു ദുരന്തവും റിപ്പോർട്ട് ചെയ്തു. അപ്പർ സുബൻസിരി ജില്ലയിൽ (Upper Subansiri District) ഉണ്ടായ ശക്തമായ ഉരുൾപൊട്ടലിൽ നാല് നിർമ്മാണ തൊഴിലാളികളെ കാണാതായി. ഉരുൾപൊട്ടലിൽ മണ്ണിനടിയിൽപ്പെട്ട തൊഴിലാളികൾക്കായി നടത്തിയ തിരച്ചിലിനിടെ ഒരാളുടെ മൃതദേഹം പിന്നീട് കണ്ടെത്തി. മറ്റ് മൂന്ന് പേർക്കായുള്ള തിരച്ചിൽ തുടരുകയാണ്.

കനത്ത മഴയിൽ രക്ഷാപ്രവർത്തനം ദുഷ്കരം

തുടർച്ചയായ മഴയും മണ്ണിടിച്ചിലും പ്രദേശത്തെ രക്ഷാപ്രവർത്തനത്തിന് വെല്ലുവിളിയാകുന്നുണ്ട്. റോഡുകളിൽ മണ്ണും പാറകളും അടിഞ്ഞതോടെ പല മേഖലകളിലേക്കുമുള്ള ഗതാഗതവും തടസ്സപ്പെട്ടു.

ദുരന്തനിവാരണ സേന (Disaster Response Teams) ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള വിവിധ ഏജൻസികളുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലാണ് തിരച്ചിലും രക്ഷാപ്രവർത്തനവും പുരോഗമിക്കുന്നത്. കാണാതായ സൈനികരെയും തൊഴിലാളികളെയും കണ്ടെത്തുന്നതിനായി കൂടുതൽ സംഘങ്ങളെ ദുരന്തബാധിത മേഖലകളിലേക്ക് എത്തിക്കാനുള്ള ശ്രമങ്ങളും തുടരുകയാണ്.

വടക്കുകിഴക്കൻ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിൽ മഴ ശക്തം

അരുണാചൽ പ്രദേശിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ ശക്തമായ മഴയാണ് ലഭിക്കുന്നത്. മലനിരകളിൽ തുടർച്ചയായി മഴ ലഭിക്കുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ മിന്നൽ പ്രളയം (Flash Flood), ഉരുൾപൊട്ടൽ, മണ്ണിടിച്ചിൽ തുടങ്ങിയ ദുരന്തങ്ങളുടെ സാധ്യത ഉയർന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. 

പ്രദേശത്തെ താഴ്ന്ന മേഖലകളിലും നദീതീരങ്ങളിലും താമസിക്കുന്നവർ ജാഗ്രത പാലിക്കണമെന്ന് അധികൃതർ നിർദേശിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. കാലാവസ്ഥാ സാഹചര്യം വിലയിരുത്തി കൂടുതൽ മുന്നറിയിപ്പുകളും സുരക്ഷാ നടപടികളും സ്വീകരിച്ചുവരികയാണ്.

കാണാതായ സൈനികർക്കും തൊഴിലാളികൾക്കുമായി തിരച്ചിൽ തുടരുന്നതിനിടെ, അരുണാചലിൽ വീണ്ടും ശക്തമായ മഴയുണ്ടാകാനുള്ള സാധ്യത രക്ഷാപ്രവർത്തകർക്ക് ആശങ്കയാകുകയാണ്.
