Heavy Rainfall: Avoid Non-Essential Travel to Wayanad, District Administration Advises
In view of the continuing heavy rainfall and the likelihood of adverse weather conditions persisting over the coming days, the Wayanad District Administration has issued a public advisory urging residents and tourists to exercise extreme caution.
The administration has requested the public to completely avoid travelling to Wayanad except for essential purposes. With the risk of landslides, waterlogging, fallen trees, and other rain-related hazards in several parts of the district, unnecessary travel could pose serious safety risks.
Tourists currently staying in Wayanad have been advised to remain at their hotels, resorts, or other places of accommodation and refrain from unnecessary travel or visits to tourist destinations until weather conditions improve.
The District Administration has also urged the public to strictly follow all official instructions and advisories issued by the District Administration and the District Disaster Management Authority. Authorities emphasized that adhering to safety guidelines and cooperating with emergency measures is essential to minimizing risks during the ongoing spell of heavy rainfall.
